Section 8-9 Brasof Philosophy of Government (POG)

* Do you think that Government is necessary? *

Government is necessary because society have come this far in our world today without it. Freedom of speech is a good law by the government, but the government is here to set limitation for our actions. Limitations are present to establish justice, and stop the ignorance of the inconsiderate people in the country. The inconsistency of, one can cause friction in the daily lives others. One of the reasons why the government put laws here is because rules are being broken, and people try to get away with illegal things by bending the restrictions of the law. Government is also a huge guideline for our citizens that are following the rules, and for the ones who don’t. The government is also wrong sometimes in other people’s view. The opinion of a citizen counts and sometimes the government doesn’t pay attention.
Government is a big asset to our normal lives; people can’t just walk around and commit such a horrible homicide, or abuse, fighting, and theft, just plain evil problems. It is also needed to guide our economy/funding, building, production, stores, etc. If there was no government, people could just steal money from accounts, banks, and just citizens going, or coming from their jobs. Our government is protection, and it establishes justice for those who need it. It runs just about everything in the world, and it breaks off into branches for each problem, or a very certain need from the nation, or city.
Equality is needed, and more in the nation because many different backgrounds live in unsteady environments, while others are living in 10.10 million dollar homes, whom don’t deserve it. There are people that made certain choices that lead them to struggle, and work at a dead-end job, all their life. Our nation needs improvement in this area, and the ones who can afford it walks over others. Some citizens try so hard to work, and get their life back in order, but fail to succeed.
Racial profiling is another problem that involves the government. Jena six is an example of racial profiling of the government everywhere, north or south. African American teens are sent to jail for defending their selves from the Caucasians teens in a fight. Now, revolving around this subject, the maximum consequence would have been, a three-day suspension for every student involved. The DA had to be a racial profiler, he had to go on and send all the African American teens to a cell with real criminals etc., have a trial, and give them a sentence; While the Caucasian kids are sitting back laughing over the whole situation, without even a slap on the wrist. Me as a citizen and a future law/ politician factor, I’m addressing this to the whole entire world, and I want everyone’s perspective on the incident. Everyone has a voice, and they need to speak up, and try to establish justice for our people.
Moving on, the governments have to take some of the blame, of the crimes that have or, what hasn’t occurred yet on the streets of this nation. People feel as though racist is good. One of my friends experienced racism, when my friend Sahmir was walking from school. Two Caucasian cops rolled up in a squad car, and manhandled my friend, who is only 14, but big, as in height, and structure. They asked no questions just assumed, he was the criminal there were searching for. The police must have thought that any black man in the neighborhood was a criminal, and Sahmir told me that they were very disrespectful, and were racist in his view. Sahmir is now attending Cardinal Dougherty High School, and is keeping p his grades. Not to sound racist, but my point is racial profiling has got to stop. Every background has a little bit to contribute to this situation, but it has gone too far.
Also, I agree with John Lock, but with Hobbes at the same time, because I strongly back up law, but I love his theory with equality. The world today has problems, but it is very unfair that other people can’t have a shot at happiness. They were two men who understood the world, and I strongly agree, and have much respect for the each of these men work.
My main point is that we are the people that make up the stats, and we need to put aside any racial, or any other problems, and come together no matter what race/background. To conclude, although THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT PERFECT, it is still necessary to our daily lives.
